Connecting WhatsApp to Fambot

The short version

If WhatsApp linking isn't going through, it's almost always because of how you entered the code — not a broken connection. WhatsApp's own linking flow defaults to a QR code, which doesn't work if you're viewing that code on the same phone you're trying to link. Use "Link with phone number instead" and type in the code Fambot gives you.

Step by step

  1. Start the WhatsApp connection flow in Fambot.
  2. On the WhatsApp linking screen, look for the option "Link with phone number instead" — tap that instead of scanning the QR code.
  3. Fambot will give you a code. Enter that code where WhatsApp asks for it.
  4. Linking should complete right away.

Why the QR code trips people up

WhatsApp's default linking method assumes you're scanning the QR code with a different device than the one showing it. If you're doing everything from a single phone, scanning is effectively impossible — which is why the "Link with phone number instead" path exists. This is a WhatsApp UX quirk, not a Fambot bug.

If you did all of the above and it's still not working

Double check that:

  • You entered the exact code Fambot displayed (codes are single-use and expire).
  • You're not trying to scan the QR code with the same device.

If it's still stuck after that, reach out to support@fambot.com with a screenshot of what you're seeing — we've made several fixes to this flow recently and want to know right away if something's still off.
